AUM versus OM

AUM versus OM

Modern science has learned that energy has vibration. The more conscious one can be of the energy in his or her body, the easier it is for one to raise spiritually within one self. When you move your body, you should try to feel that it is energy which gives strength to your muscles, allowing them to move. When you inhale, you should stop to feel the air you are takin in is energy. Everything one does, you should try to be conscious of the energy as the next step upward in awareness, is the way to the divine union.

One should feel that the energy which enables oneself to move and breathe is not your own, personally. Delusion can begin to control thoughts. Statements such as “All this is mine!” it is easier to imagine matter as something that can be possessed. It is more difficult to think of subtle energy, and even air, as ones possession. When energy can be offered up (astral or angelic beings or to God) it is easier to raise ones consciousness also.

(3:14) from the Bhagavad Gita states: “Creatures require nourishment from food; food must be nourished by rain; rain is sustained, in turn, by fire (heat from the sun, which causes bodies of water to evaporate), and heat is produced by the vibration of AUM.”

The Bhagavad Gita subtly suggests the elemental stages of divine manifestation, which are, in truth, our entire sustenance: earth, water, fire, -these visible stages issue from the vibratory power of the cosmos: AUM. Vibration is action, which is to say, Karma.

On another level the food that one eats, is energy. It substantiality can stimulate gross pleasure also in the thought, “I myself, am eating, enjoying, and delighting in all these pleasurable tastes.” It is not “unlawful” spiritually, to enjoy ones food, but it is better to turn that pleasure into a reminder of the changeless joy of the soul. It helps to do this while eating, to let the enjoyment one gets from food nourish the joy in the heart, by concentrating in the heart whatever delight one feels in the taste.

AUM, the Cosmic Vibration, has three aspects, each of which produces a distinct sound:  Brahma, the creative vibration, gives the highest sound; Vishnu, the preserving vibration, gives a medium pitched sound; and Shiva, the destroying or all-dissolving vibration, gives a low-pitched, rumbling sound. This Trinity is not the same as the Christian Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, as many scholars claim. That Trinity is expressed, rather, in the Sanskrit threefold “Aum-Tat-Sat” three words that indicate the basic aspects of God: Sat being the eternal Truth from which issues all creation; AUM, the Cosmic Vibration, from which proceeds cosmic manifestation; and Tat, the reflection, at the heart of all vibration, of the motionless Spirit, forever untouched by vibration.

AUM is properly written with three letters. The first letter signifies Brahma; the second one, Vishnu; and the third (properly pronounced as a slightly drawn-out hum), Shiva. The threefold AUM is for that reason chanted on three tonal levels: high, medium, and low. AUM, in English, is generally written “OM,” because that vowel in English is not pure, but consists of two (and even more) vowels: in America at least, a short a (as in “uh”) and the universal u, which should be pronounced oo.  AUM should properly be pronounced, “Uh-oo-mmm.”Tat and Sat also are pronounced with short A’s, like the A in “about.”

All things are manifestations of the Cosmic Vibration. While in deep meditation the first sounds to be heard is the sound of AUM in the right ear. As you deepen your experiences, you will hear it in your whole body; as the whole body vibrates with that sound. Feeling AUM all through the body, one can lose material and false ego identification and raise positive spirituality within ones self’s-consciousness, centered in the core nucleus within the inner regions of organs or tissue which gradually expands with the AUM sound until you are identified with the vibration in all creation. This is a stage known as AUM Samadhi (Samadhi is Sanskrit: समाधि Hindi pronunciation: səˈmaːd̪ʱi also called samāpatti in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and a yogic school refers to a state of meditative consciousness. It is a meditative absorption or trance, attained by the practice of dhyāna. In samādhi the mind becomes still.)

We are all apart of Christ consciousness which vibrates within the body-and the center of every vibration of the body, reflecting the motionless Spirit beyond creation. Gradually your consciousness expands with the Christ consciousness, or Tat, until you perceive it as infinite. Once you choose to become conscious your ability to respond is limitless and suddenly life within your reorganizes itself in a completely different way. You move into higher and higher levels of freedom within yourself. Life can now be wonderful an exhilarating journey of your self-discovery.  It is only after reaching a stage. Beyond Christ consciousness, which you choose live in the eternally watchful state, resides the Supreme Spirit, Sat

Many Blessings,

Hex Signs adorn the ole barn door or home…

The term hex comes from early American folk belief, and implies the use of magick for our families or properties. There is much lore around Hex signs and some could use it for not the highest good but in this process hexing can be used in a positive manner to bring about good luck, heal the sick and bring good fortune upon us. A good example of using the hex process to bring about favorable results still thrives in this country. Sometimes extraordinary magick develops from the daily activities and needs of ordinary people the Pennsylvania Dutch culture, which flourishes near the Susquehanna and Delaware rivers, represents a uniquely American example of this phenomenon. Groups of people that settled the area were noted for both their spiritual and industrious qualities. Beginning in the eighteenth century, refugees, from Eastern Europe merged and combined the ideals of the Quakers, Amish, Swiss, Germans, Lutherans, French Huguenots and others.

They called the new land “Pennsylvania,” a combination of William Penn’s name with “sylvan” for the forest. “Dutch” derives not from Holland but the Deutsch, “German.” The term “Pennsylvania Dutch” comprises of melting pot of culture and lore. Yet local dialects use distinctive words, while recipes, arts and crafts and other traditions may be traced to their original roots. These are colorful charms arranged in a perfect circle-hearts, birds, stars, rosettes, tear drops, acorns, leaves and flowers. Big geometric designs may adorn barns; smaller ones decorate hope chests, linens, ceramics, and even tombstones. The images glorify nature through the vehicle of the subconscious, creating a glimpse of paradise on Earth. A porthole of wonder and representation of what is hoped for and sought after.

The Distlefink, or thistle-finch bird, is one of the most popular of the motifs, representing good luck. The illustration combines it with a heart to assure love, and tulips for faith, hope and charity. The scallops are for smooth sailing through the storms of life. The design can be transferred to your altar or what you wish to create a powerful unique amulet.

The Pennsylvania Dutch have been using a form of a hex-craft for centuries. For many, Pennsylvania Dutch hex-craft may seem a bit odd. But to early Germanic people, magick was tantamount to survival. The early pioneers of this country did not have it easy. If they did not maintain a strict vigilance over loved ones and make the best of what Mother Nature had to offer, they never would have endured. The most noticeable aspects of the Pennsylvania Dutch magickal system are the elaborate symbols, or hex signs, that they use to decorate their barns, homes, and village stores. These colorful signs represent hundreds of years of tradition and come in many patterns and sizes.

How to make a Hex Sign

Be sure you have all the tools you will need to complete the sign you have designed or found. If you are doing an original drawing, plan it out first on a blank piece of paper. Be sure that the picture will represent the result you desire. On a round disk of wood or metal, draw out the hex sign. As you draw, ask for a blessing. For example: “This is the universe that surrounds me. It is blessed with the universal power of the almighty forces of creation.”

After the initial drawing is completed, paint the sign with colors selected for their symbolic harmony with the aims of the sign. For example, a design featuring a rooster, representing watchfulness and spiritual vigilance, might be painted red and white for power and protection.

Once the hex sign has been painted, it should be blessed and consecrated to the purpose for which it was made. This is done by holding your hands over the sign and charging it with personal energy and power. If the hex sign is for protection, you will want to recite a simple chant or prayer that will convey your thoughts verbally as you focus on the sign. For example: if the hex sign was made for protection, you might want to say:

Powers of the present and the past

There is none beside thee.

Be now and guard, remain steadfast

In perfect love and purity.

As soon as the sign has been blessed, you will want to hang it outside of the house in a place for all to see. If the sign is for protection, you might want to place it over or next to a bedroom window. If the sign is for love, hang it over the kitchen door or window. If the sign is for prosperity, fertility, good fortune, and hang it over the front entrance of your home.

A different perspective on being spiritual

Comment

A different perspective on being spiritual

In every creature, in every plant, in every seed, there is a source of life at work. Life is one thing, but the source of life is another.  In a human being this source of life is even more magnificently obvious.  Because of this, suddenly after a while all the wonderful gifts that the body offers somehow seem to turn irrelevant and trivial. It is because of this that you and every other human being seem to live in a constant struggle between the physical and the dimension beyond the physical. Though you have the compulsiveness of the physical, you also have the consciousness of being more than just physical.

There are two basic forces within you. One is the instinct of self-preservation, which compels you to build walls around your-self to protect yourself. The other is the constant desire to expand, to become boundless. These two longings—to preserve and to expand- are not opposing forces, though they may seem to be. Most people see them as being in conflict. They are related to two different aspects of your life. One force helps you root yourself well on this planet; the other takes you beyond.

Self- preservation needs to be limited to the physical body. If you have the necessary awareness to separate the two, there is no conflict. But if you are identified with the physical, then instead of working in collaboration, these two fundamental forces become a source of tension. Life has a million ingenious ways to bend you, break you, knead you, and grind you.

As long as your inner life is enslaved to external situations, it will remain a precarious condition. There is no other way for it to be. What then is the way out? The way out is a very simple change in direction. You just need to see that the source of basis of your experience is within you. Pain or pleasure, joy or misery, agony or ecstasy, happens only inside you. Human folly is that people are always trying to extract joy from the outside. You may use the outside as a stimulus or trigger, but the real thing always comes from within.

Most people think peace and joy are the goals of the spiritual life. This is a fallacy. Peace and joy are the basic requirements for a life of well-being. Peace and joy are not things you attain at the end of life. They are the basis of your life.

The word “spirituality” is one of the most corrupted words on the planet.  It is because most people are so deprived of peace that they consider it to be the ultimate aspiration.

If you are aware, you can activate your system in such a way that simply breathing is an enormous pleasure. All it takes is a willingness to pay a little attention to the inner mechanism. Do not look for a way out of suffering. There is only one way- and that is in.

Everything that ever happens to you, you experienced right within you. Light and darkness, pain and pleasure, agony and ecstasy- all of it happened within you.

All human experience is on hundred percent self-created.

Whatever you feel deprived of looks like the highest aspiration. The thing to remember is that none of these will settle you in any enduring way. Human life is longing for unlimited expansion, and that is the only thing that will settle you for good.

The spiritual quest is not a cultivated choice. It is not an induced quest. It is a natural longing. But unless you handle it consciously, it will not yield. When being peaceful, blissful and joyous are not efforts anymore, you naturally start seeking, want to know the nature of life. Mysticism on this planet evolved only in those places where people learned the technology of being ecstatic by their own nature. This is because only when you are blissful you will be in the highest state of receptivity, and truly willing to explore all aspects of life. Otherwise, you would not dare, because if keeping yourself pleasant is a being challenge, you can’t take on other challenges.

If you really want to know spirituality, don’t look for anything. People think spirituality is about looking for God or truth or the ultimate. The problem is you have already denied what you are looking for. It is not the object of your search that is important; it is the faculty of looking. The ability to simply look without motive is missing in the world today. Everybody is a psychological creature; wanting to assign meaning to everything seeking is not about looking for something. It is about enhancing your perception, your very faculty of weeing.

Choices that you make out of inability are not life solution. In inability to be joyful by your own nature can make the simplest issues in life seem like highly complex problems. In pursuit of human happiness, we are ripping the planet apart.  The reason the simple things-life being peaceful, joyful, loving-have become ultimate aspirations is that people are living without paying attention to the life process. When most people say “life,” they mean the accessories of lift-their work, their family, their relationships, the homes they live in, the cars they drive, the clothes they wear, or the gods they pray to. The one thing they miss is life-the life process itself, the essential life that is you. The moment you make this as yourself, life becomes an unnecessary struggle. The foundations of peace and bliss are not about attending to the external realities of your life, but in accessing and organizing the inner nature of your being. Simply your internal life creations, not the materials around it. By not paying attention to your life process then your life, you allow the accessories in life define you.

All of the “material-versus-spiritual” struggles of humanity spring from this ignorance. When you say “spirituality,” you are talking about a dimension beyond the physical. The human desire to transcend the limitations of the physical is a completely natural one. To journey from the boundary-based individual body to the boundless source of creation-this is the very basis of the spiritual process.

You are capable of experiencing only that which is within the boundaries of your sensation. A sense of inclusiveness can happen. Enlightenment is not an attainment or an achievement. It is a homecoming. Your senses give you the impression that you are experiencing the outside, but you have never experienced the outside. When you realize that all that you experience is within, that absolute homecoming is enlightenment.

The reason why everyone is not naturally enlightened is simply this: people have categorized the world into good and bad, God and Devil, high and low, sacred and filthy, pure and impure, heaven and hell. These are parallel lines that will never meet.

Once you have a fractured this existence within yourself, there is no way to reach a state of enduring well-being and freedom. If you first label someone your enemy and then try to love him or her, it’s going to be torturous! Once you have fragmented creation like this, there is no way to arrive at a state of absolute inclusiveness. We as humans have lost a fundamental distinction-between inward and outward, between their way of being and the way they transact with the external world.

Transactions are different, according to the nature of a situation or relationship. However remote or intimate, transactions are always governed by lows or norms. There is only one governing principle: borderless unity. Our inner world needs none. To attain the ecstasy of borderless unity which is our natural state, all you need to do is live by the guideline that all human experience is generated from within-either with the support of external stimuli or without. That is all. If you establish this within yourself absolutely, the consequences of your transactions will no longer be burdensome.

Do you believe that someone “up there” is going to rescue you and solve all your problems, just remember that you are living on a round planet- and one that’s spinning.  When you look up your looking in the wrong direction in this vast ever-expanding cosmos, what’s up and what’s down? The only distinction you do know right now is “within” and “without.” Self-exploration and transformation, based on the radical premise that it is possible for a human being to evolve consciously. biological evolution, happiness without conscious participation, spiritual evolution can happen consciously. All it takes is willingness. Up and down, good and bad, sacred and profane: these are all assumed. The only way out is in.

The spiritual process is not about imposing your ideas on existence; it is about making yourself in such a way that the creation of the Creator, and every atom in this existence, cannot help yielding to you. When you pursue your own likes and dislikes, you feel alone in this vast existence, constantly insecure, unstable, psychologically challenged. But once existence yields to you, it delivers you to a different place of grace-where every pebble, every rock, every tree, every atom, speaks to you in a language you understand.

We are rooted to the planet right now because of gravity. We have a body today only because of gravity. Gravity is trying to hold you down, whereas grace is a force that is trying to lift you up. If you are released from the physical forces of existence, then grace bursts forth in your life.

As gravity is active, grace too is constantly active. It is just that you have to make yourself available to it. With gravity you have no choice; you are available to it. If you are strongly identified with the physical, gravity it is all that you will know. But with grace, you have to make yourself receptive. Whatever kind of spiritual practice you do, ultimately, you are just working toward making yourself available to grace.

When you are available to grace, suddenly, you seem to function like magic. This possibility is available to everybody. Every moment there are a million miracles happening around you: a flower blossoming, a bird tweeting, a bee humming, a raindrop falling, a snowflake wafting along the clear evening air. There is magic everywhere. If you learn how to live it, life is nothing short of a daily miracle!

Exercise to try:

You may have noticed this about yourself: when you are feeling pleasant, you want to expand; when you are fearful, you want to contract. Try this. Sit for a few minutes in front of a plant or tree. Remind yourself that you are inhaling what the tree is exhaling and exhaling what the tree is inhaling. Even if you are not yet experientially aware of it, establish a psychological connection with the plant. You could repeat this several times a day. After a few days, you will start connecting with everything around you differently. You won’t limit yourself to a tree.

Many Blessings!

The Importance of Gratitude

The practice of gratitude is one of the most profound emotions. Gratitude is a quality of the heart in which we can spiritually grow, in every situation. But without gratitude, even in the most favorable situation, we cannot really progress. Gratitude is a divine virtue so important that practically no other divine virtue could exist without it.

Destress your day… Every day….

Throughout our days we all experience an array of emotions. There are times were we need to release built up stress. Some days feels like you start off empowered and then you hit a wall.

It is important to stop at some point during the day and take a quick break. When you take a break from your work and do some simple energy exercises you activate your respiratory system.  Think along the lines of opening a valve that lets off some steam. When you are feeling like a pressure cooker, you need to release congested energy from your body.

Changing Your Polarity

Your body is a delicately balanced machine. Polarity reversal disrupts your energy system causing you to feel out of balance.

Tiny pathways, known as meridians, run throughout your body delivering electrical charges of energy to your organs, endocrine system and cells. When this becomes disrupted, polarity reversal happens.

Quick guide to Creative Visualization

Creative visualization is a technique used to make dreams come true. The idea is to create an image in your mind’s eye of something you desire. It is the simplest way for you to reprogram your subconscious, so you experience more success in almost any area of your life.  By empowering an image through concentrated meditation, you can generate a visual mental imagery, with your eyes open or closed. When doing this you create or recreate a visual perception and transform the image into reality. When you generate a mental image this will simulate or recreate the sensory perception.

Walking Meditation: My Personal Experience

......Learning how to meditate while walking is key though.  Many people believe that when you meditate you drop into a trance like state, which would be detrimental if walking.  Walking is an activity you should remain somewhat aware of your surroundings.  While it is true that one can go deeply within during meditation, this does not always happen.  A person does not have to drop down into a deep trance in order to gain the benefits of meditation.  I would like to share with you my own first experiences in engaging in walking meditations.  It is my hope through sharing my experience that you may learn from my missteps and perhaps pick up some tips to incorporate into your own walking meditation routine........

Are you Psychic?

We all have psychic abilities. Everyone possess the ability to be a psychic medium, however, some are born with an innate ability, which allows them to more easily access the other side. Some of us may have more natural abilities than others, the same way that some of us seem inclined towards music or mathematics. But just like any other skill, psychic abilities can be trained and enhanced.

Looking for Spirituality

The notion of “spirituality” might sound too flimsy for serious scientific research. But that very attitude has led many people to ignore the subject for far too long, especially at the cost to those who have suffered in many ways, including traumas that can even have begun at the time of conception. Many people have some form of awakening and long to fill some void that has become a part of their lives and seek out ways to change their life patterns.

Ever Have One of Those Days?

The day started out like any other day.  The alarm went off at 5:00 am at which time it was promptly squelched.  The intent was to rise early, work out in order to meet the fitness goal that I set so I could be slimmer for the holiday season, and then head off to work.  The reality was I dozed off again and didn’t wake until two hours later.  Turns out I didn’t press the snooze button but the off button for the alarm instead.  As you can imagine, panic set in as I leapt from the bed, at which point I proceeded to fall flat on my face.   Ironically, I had tripped on the sneakers I left out for my morning workout.........

Mantras For the Heart and Soul

Here at Serenity Grove Wellness Center LLC we offer a free prayer service. Each day in meditation we pray in many ways to help those in need of healing and prayers.  Through this service Lisa and myself have witnessed and can attest to just how powerful yet subtle mantra can change many afflictions for ourselves and others. I turn your attention to a meditation, prayer/mantra and sound healing performed just recently. "Om Arkaya Swaha" Om Ahr-Kah-Yah Swa-Ha Which means "Om and salutations to the Shining One who removes afflictions." At first I just spoke the words like we would read a normal page then my soul resonated with the seed sounds this mantra was providing and before I knew it I was chanting it full board and resonating with spirit. As the mantra came from my soul and myself I pulled out an ocean drum and within minutes the healing energy was amplified. The sound of my voice raising spiritual power and the Ocean drum was sending the healing energy to the ethers. Within a very short time I knew even though I had not performed the mantra in tradition 108 times over a period of 40 days I suddenly felt very satisfied that what I wanted through the power of intention took place. I am very blessed to have received affirmation from someone near and dear to my heart that their spirits were improved compared to the moments prior they had not been in the best place for themselves.

Mantra means a sound, a certain utterance or a syllable. Today, modern science sees the whole existence as reverberations of energy, different levels of vibrations. Where there is a vibration, there is bound to be a sound. The power of mantra is truly a power that we can harness within ourselves. Much like the Tibetan bowls and Reiki healing are simple yet effective and powerful. As humans we can heal ourselves in so many ways without having to turn to "medicine" Now don't get me wrong, there is a time and a place for everything! There are times in our lives in which medical intervention is crucial.

Our very own voices can be a very simple yet powerful tool. When you work to clear your mind so that you can consider any question or a specific question it can put you in a placid and unobstructed state that allows the inner and external healing to begin or process.  If you have a particular issue in your life, or a material or spiritual goal you wish to accomplish, pick a Mantra or a seed sound that seems to represent the energy you desire but have been lacking.

The Sanskrit language is a device, not necessarily a medium of communication. Most of the other languages were made up because we had to refer to something. Initially, they started with just a handful of words and then multiplied them into complex forms. But Sanskrit is a discovered language every word form has a seed sound attached to it. Every form in the existence is reverberating in a certain way and creates a certain sound. When Sanskrit is taught, it has to be learned by rote. The sound is important, not the meaning. When you utter a sound, a form is being created. There is a whole science of using sounds in a particular way so that it creates the right kind of form. We can create powerful forms by uttering sounds in certain arrangements. This is known as the Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound. If you have mastery over the sound you also have mastery over the form that is attached to it. “Nada” means “sound.” “Brahma” means “Divine,” the All. Mantras allow the chakras to "switch on" safely and to operate at a higher "wattage." When we practice Sanskrit mantra, we increase the ability of the chakras to hold a spiritual charge. Mantra's power derives not from any particular meaning that their syllables convey, but from the vibrational effect they create when they are pronounced repeatedly.

The process of intoning these ancient formulas works in the everyday world even if we don't understand what we are saying because mantras are fundamentally about energy rather than meaning. The Sanskrit approach to changing the undesirable inner conditions is directly tied to changing the energy pattern. This is important in Mantra's, Reiki, Sound Healing and so many other Holistic modalities out there. When we create sound vibration within the body such as a mantra it goes immediately to the negative condition and begins to break it up.  As a result, there may be some outer "drama" that takes place somewhere in the process as the energy center "defends itself." We may get very angry over something trivial. Such a reaction can be mild or strong, depending upon the particulars of the person and the depth of the problem.

To change a chronic condition, there are three phases for which mantra practice is employed. Using "medical" treatment as a model, we can describe the process like this:

1. Vibratory intervention or surgery, which takes place over a period of days or weeks as the condition is transformed;

2. A dressing or unguent, which begins to rearrange the energy into a new and useful pattern;

3 A bandage, which slowly turns to new skin protecting the place where the transformation took place.

There are three sounds in the existence. Any given sound can be created out of these three sounds. Try this simple experiment: without the use of the tongue, there are only three sounds you can utter: “aaa”, “ouuu”, and “mmm”. Even if you cut off your tongue, you can still utter these three sounds. For any other sound, you need the use of the tongue. You are using the tongue only to mix these three sounds in many ways to produce all the other sounds. There are so many millions of sounds you can create with your mouth, but a person who is mute can only say “aaa”, “ouuu”, and “mmm”. He or she cannot say anything else because he or she is not able to use his tongue. If you utter these three sounds together, what do you get? AUM. AUM is not some religion’s trademark. It is the fundamental sound in the existence. It is said that Shiva can create a whole new existence just by uttering three AUMs.

The basic mantra, energy, sound is all inclusive it can transform any of our inner conditions whether it is fear, pain, anger, peace,  deeper love, deeper feelings, the want to make oneself better. Where relief is genuinely sought, Sanskrit mantra formulas can be extremely useful. When we recognize an inner condition needs to change we can help devise a Holistic approach to harness power and holistically change the condition that may stand in your way. It’s so simple it is mind blowing. Best of all no pill or hospital stay needed, just some time to honor your body and listen to what your needs are at that time.

I have to give credit where credit is due… I have set forth on a journey to learn Mantra work and I have finally found my voice.  Some of my teachings began from a phenomenal book called Healing Mantras written by Thomas Ashley – Ferrand. If this modality of healing resonates with you this book will open your eyes, heart and help you fall in love with this century old tradition.

Many Blessings,

Rev. Heather DeLusso

Staying Whole

We are often asked about what we do here at Serenity Grove Wellness Center.  When the explanation is given that we use holistic health modalities such as Reiki and Sound Healing to help the healing process on the mind, body, and spiritual levels of an individual, we are met with glazed looks and question marks by some.  So it seemed appropriate that the first blog entry would speak to the topic of holistic health....
