There are real reasons Singing Bowls and Tibetan Healing bowls have been used for centuries. Their whole purpose is to restore vibratory frequencies of the body, mind, and soul that are out-of-harmony and diseased. The sounds they emit work as a type of energy medicine that has been known to heal pain, depression, stress disorders and so much more. Not to mention they are a great tool to advance your spiritual journey and they are fun!

The glorious tones of the bowls provide a meditative space which brings you to your private temple within. The healing process works by using the brain waves to synchronize with the sounds of the bowl. The gentile tones aid in decoding the cellular level which is not processing energy correctly allowing a reconnection to the soul self. These unique tones emit and prepare you or your client to enter into a deep meditation, receive intuitive messages, as well as enhance creative thinking. The beautiful sound waves emitted by these bowls awaken our ability to hear much more than what we would normally within. As we listen to these sounds, the soul body feels them.

Sound itself it made of energy. It travels through air, water, and solids as an energetic wave, made up of a wavelength and a frequency. The rich deep vibration moves through the physical and soul body allowing healing to begin on the mind, body, and soul level.

Each bowl has its own frequency, harmonies, pitches, rhythms, tones, wavelength, and vibrational patterns. You can feel the energy of sound immediately. The bowls emanate at different volumes, many times intuitively providing exactly what you and others need. Each stroke providing massaging energetic waves of energy igniting changes within.

The director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at the Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York, Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, says, “If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”

In the east, health is looked at much differently than in the west; illness is thought of as a manifestation of disharmony within the body, such as an imbalance in the cells or a given organ. Since matter is energy that vibrates at different rates, the structure of matter can be changed when you alter the rate of vibration. The body is said to be healthy only when each cell and organ resonates in harmony with the entire body.

What these bowls do it causes the brain to switch to the different brain wave frequencies that heighten one’s intuition, clarity of mind, as well as deep meditative and peaceful states. This positively affects our nervous system and engages our relaxation reflex while also inhibiting the pain or stress response. Our brain’s ability to become flexible and/or transition through various brain wave frequencies plays a large role in how successful we are at managing stress, focusing on tasks, and getting a good night’s sleep. If one of the five types of brain waves is either overproduced and/or under produced in our brain, it can cause problems. For this reason, it is important to understand that there is no single brain wave that is “better” or more “optimal” than the others.

Each serves a purpose to help us cope with various situations – whether it is to help us process and learn new information or help us calm down after a long stressful day. The five brain waves in order of highest frequency to lowest are as follows: gamma, beta, alpha, theta, and delta. Gamma waves are important for learning, memory and information processing. Beta Waves are known as high frequency low amplitude brain waves that are commonly observed while we are awake. They are involved in conscious thought, logical thinking, and tend to have a stimulating affect. Having the right amount of beta waves allows us to focus and complete school or work-based tasks easily. Alpha Wave frequency’s range and bridges the gap between our conscious thinking and subconscious mind. In other words, alpha is the frequency range between beta and theta. It helps us calm down when necessary and promotes feelings of deep relaxation. Theta Wave frequency range is involved in daydreaming and sleep. Theta waves are connected to us experiencing and feeling deep and raw emotions. Delta Waves are the slowest recorded brain waves in human beings. They are found most often in infants as well as young children. As we age, we tend to produce fewer deltas even during deep sleep. They are associated with the deepest levels of relaxation and restorative, healing sleep. They have also been found to be involved in unconscious bodily functions such as regulating heart beat and digestion.

When alignment occurs, health and healing all come into balance, creating deep harmony within and without. This can easily lead to spontaneous healing. As the great Tibetan master, Bodhisattva Gwalwa Karmapa puts it, Singing Bowls emit the “sound of the void” which brings us to the cosmic sound of Aum (OM) connecting us to the sound of universe.

Sound can be healing on a conscious and sub-conscious level. Think of the last time that you listened to a song over and over because it made you feel better. Or stopped and listened to the local church bells ringing over the town. Listening allows us to be cathartic. This is a time sound healed you and you were aware but yet unaware of it. On a deeper level, it’s important to consider and be aware of the fact that we are individuals also made of energy. Our physical parts, our bones, organs, and tissue are all made of molecules, atoms, and subatomic particles like protons, neutrons, and electrons. When you put it all together, you get a complete, functioning physical body – made of energetic particles.

But, we’re also comprised of thoughts, emotions, feelings, experiences, and perspectives that are housed within us and also made of and existing with energy. This part of ourselves is often called the spiritual body, or the Spirit. Our energetic body is composed of all of it. All the energetic particles condensed and packed together to form who we are as unique beings, and there are areas where the energy is more concentrated than others. These areas are called chakras, or energetic centers. There are 114 chakras in the body. There are many more, these are the major ones. You can see them as 114 junction boxes or confluence of nadis. These junctions are always in the form of triangles. Because it embodies movement from one dimension to another, it is referred to as a “chakra,” which means “wheel” or “circle,” but it is actually a triangle. Out of these 114, two are outside the physical body. Of the remaining 112, only 108 can actually be worked upon, the remaining four just flower as a consequence. The number 108 has manifested in the human system because it is a significant number in the making of the solar system. The diameter of the sun and the distance between the earth and the sun is 108 times. The diameter of the moon and the distance between the earth and the moon is 108 times. The diameter of the earth and the diameter of the sun is 108 times. And hence, 108 is significant in various spiritual practices in the east which is now becoming part of the Western world.

Each is an energetic “house” is for specific emotional and life functions – like digestion, love, communication, respiration, reproduction and our spiritual journey’s. Each center of energy is divvied up and grouped together with related functions, with energy frequencies and wavelengths that are similar. When sound is matched to the optimal vibration of a chakra, for example, and it persists for long enough, something amazing happens. Our energetic body responds to match this vibration.

Let’s say one of your chakras is in a state of non-functioning, your heart chakra, for example. It’s long since closed off due to the passing of a loved one and subsequent grieving many years ago, and since then, you’ve started to experience asthma, shoulder pain, and frequent respiratory illness. These are signs that the heart chakra is poorly functioning, is not matching the optimal operating vibration, and is likely running at a much lower and slower speed and frequency.

When a sound is played that matches the optimal vibration of the heart chakra, it’s as though that chakra recognizes it and awakens. As the sound plays on, the energy in that area of the body quickly begins to shed anything and everything standing in its way of making that energetic match. Lower, slower, and clogged energy can be released very quickly with the impetus and jump start of an outside energetic match in sound.

The reason this happens has to do with discord. A mismatch in energy is an unhappy thing, and creates an aversive stimulus – like nails on the chalkboard. Biologically and spiritually, our body’s goal is to work in harmony with that which is around us and within us. When a discord, a mismatch exists, our body and spirit will do whatever it needs to do to put an end to it as fast as possible to restore harmony. So, when sound energy begins to resonate through the air and meets with our own energy body – if there is a mismatch, we recognize and begin immediately to remedy it. This is the nature and purpose of sound healing.

Sound is created to match the optimally functioning energy of a certain area of our energetic body, which corresponds to physical and emotional functions. As the sound persists, the longer it persists, our body begins to match the sound, eventually doing so. Sound can heal chakras, release pain, and remove hurt on all levels. In many cases, the effects can be rapid and immediately noticeable. Sound healers create the optimal sound that our body needs for health, and even without knowing it, our body meets it automatically and heals in the process.

Given that the science behind this method is slowly being uncovered, modern medicine is just starting to measure as well as validate its ability to heal our body, mind, and soul. Sound healing is energy healing.

Many blessings
